# Use webhooks with the API

## Use webhooks with the API
Pair `ACCALERT` webhooks with the **[Alerts API](/client-spec/user-alerts-monitoring)** to keep your handler small. The webhook tells you *something happened* and gives you the `alert_id`; the API gives you the full detail when you need it.
Typical flow:
1. Receive `ACCALERT` webhook → store `user_id` and `alert_id`.
2. Call `GET /users/efx-alerts/{alertId}` to fetch the full alert detail (creditor, amounts, dates, change reasons, etc.).
3. Or call `GET /users/efx-alerts` for a list of recent alert summaries, or `GET /users/efx-alerts-details` for all alerts with full detail in a single call.

If a webhook delivery fails permanently, the alert is still accessible through the [Alerts API](/client-spec/user-alerts-monitoring) — just query by `alert_id`.
